Metric · draft
A measurable indicator (students often call it a KPI) used as evidence for a design decision.

Also known as: EUI · Energy consumption · Monthly operational energy demand · Monthly energy consumption · Warehouse energy use intensity
What it measures
How much energy a building uses per square metre per year — the standard way to compare operational energy performance.
Calculation
Annual delivered energy ÷ gross floor area. Simulated (e.g. Honeybee/EnergyPlus) or taken from metered data or benchmarks.
